Aquariums are increasingly popular because as lifestyles change and become more demanding, it is difficult to give a cat or dog the special attention it needs. And with advances in technology and the amount of products available, having an aquarium is becoming easier. This makes fish ideal for the family pet.
I don't have a tank right now, but I've had both fresh and saltwater tanks, and enjoy them both. For me, it's relaxing to put on some soft music and watch the fish swim...it can actually be quite mesmerizing!

ReplyDeleteSorry, I must disagree with you here. Fish are like knick-knacks, just pretty to look at. Okay, maybe they aren't dust collectors but really, a pet? They have no fur, can't pet them, can't play with them but still have to clean out that aquarium and feed them, but not too much or they'll die. Cats and dogs make much better pets. They are lots of fun, soft to touch, in tune with your feelings and return affection. Even birds beat out fish!

ReplyDeleteWould that relate to the time I dropped the glass top sheet in the tank and it cut one fish in half, which then continued swimming around?
Or the occasion when my flying fish flew out of the teensy tiny hole in the top and its mate pined to death?
Oh, and there's the time my African cichlid pair decided to murder every other fish in the four-foot tank.
And of course, it wasn't too relaxing when I bred Siamese fighters and one day when I was at work the babies grew just old enough to start fighting (to the death).
But in general, I loved keeping fish - I must be a masochist.
no wonder, a tank, filter, gravel, and lamp will cost you 9.85$ in you local Walmart.
