On another site where I write, there is a continuing debate on whether or not pooper scooper laws are fair. My feeling is that if you are going to get a dog, then you need to expect that a dog will have to "dog his business" and that it is important to scoop it up, especially in public places. Here is the full article I wrote, and you can also click through and see the other sides of the debate if you're interested.
As much as I dislike unnecessary laws, there are so many irresponsible pet owners today that threatening them with fines is unfortunately the only way to get through to them.
ReplyDeleteI agree. If we could trust people to do the common sense, appropriate thing on their own, that'd be one thing.
ReplyDeleteBut people are unfailingly reliable in their ability to fail.
I hate stepping in dog crap when I'm walking!
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad people can't be responsible enough to clean up after their dog's mess.
ReplyDeleteIt's a serious problem because dog poo can carry diseases that will be spread around by stepping in it.
ReplyDeleteIt's especially a problem here in Canada because of snow. People think that it will magically disappear in the snow.
It does until the snow thaws and then we are left with a bunch of poo on the floor.
